Ok folks –
I have heard that MS is getting ready to stop support for VB6 is this correct? I have a product that uses VB6 as the base and need to know if we need to do a rewrite to .NET – already have some issues with COM+ not working any longer… and help would be apprecitated.
Thanks

Microsoft officially ended support for the VB6 IDE and compiler in April 2008. The runtime may be supported by MSFT for another few years.
But in all honesty MSFT ending support was much less of a factor in the decline, and ultimate death, of VB6 than the release of .NET in 2002. .NET was created to compete with java and to be the future of Windows development. Thus the arrival of .NET and microsoft’s efforts aggresively improve and promote .NET was the begining of the end of VB6. The rapid ongoing evolution of .NET and the sure and steady migration of most (but not all) windows development people, processes, and products to .NET has made the eventual end of VB6 a certainty and one that is approaching faster all the time.
